If you get an email or text request from “your boss’” “your grandchild,” “your best friend from high school,” or any other person that you “know,” BEWARE!

Your boss could ask for Gift Cards that they need ASAP for an event or need financial information emailed someplace immediately.

Your grandson could say that he is in trouble and need money right away

Your best friend could say that they are stranded in a foreign country and need your help to get home.

These are common scenarios where the cybercriminal is counting on your compassion and not your common sense. Who needs $1,000 in Walmart gift cards to get out of jail or get home from Belize?

If you are asked for any of these rescue services, reach out and call the one who is requesting help.  Speak to them personally and you’ll most likely find that they never asked for help.
