Beware of sharing too much on social media. Hackers routinely “scrub” Facebook and other sites for personal information they can use to trick you.

Don’t participate in quizzes that ask questions like “ Favorite childhood friend, high school, street you grew up on, favorite pets name; you get the idea.  These are often the “challenge” questions used by password-protected sites to verify your identity.

Don’t share your vacation photos while you are away.  Wait until you’re home so thieves don’t visit, knowing you are away.

Don’t share the names and titles of your co-workers or boss. These can be used in a scam where the criminal pretends to be someone you know and asks for gift cards, W2 forms or other financial information.
