1. Cyberattacks Come From Basement Hackers
While this may have been true years ago, today’s cybercriminals are part of organized crime or foreign government-sponsored. It’s big business, and they run their plans of action like a major corporation.
  2. Cybercriminals Don’t Care About the Data You Have
Not true – you are low-hanging fruit, and if your data isn’t valuable, the use of your computer network to attack others is.
  3. You Have Antivirus Software and a Firewall so You’re Protected
It’s a good start. You also need trained employees that don’t click on infected links or use weak passwords.
  4. You’ll Know If You’ve Been Hacked
Maybe eventually when it’s too late! Today’s cybercriminals often lie in wait before they release their attacks. If they are breaching your passwords, they do it in the middle of the night or over a weekend so you don’t notice.
  5. Your Company Will Be Able To Bounce Back After an Attack
Probably not. Factoring in business downtime, decreased profitability, legal fees and more, a severe data breach or attack might be the final straw that forces some small businesses to shut down.
