The most common “error” is when a court record is changed due to an appeal or expungement and outdated information is inadvertently reported. People with the same or similar name and the same date of birth is another cause for reporting errors. When the subject of the report tells us we have it wrong, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires a re-investigation. In this segment of SAFERupdates, we’ll be discussing the process we follow when someone tells us we have it wrong. Attendees will learn what the employer’s role is in the process and what they can expect from their background screening company. How long does the reinvestigation process take? Are employers required to hold the job open while the reinvestigation is in progress? These and other questions (please bring yours) will be answered on our next live 30-minute video podcast.
