CES® 2022: The Countdown Is On
Over 2200 exhibitors are confirmed to exhibit in person at CES 2022. In the last two weeks, 143 additional companies have signed up to exhibit in-person. Construction of exhibitors’ show floor space is well underway and soon attendees will be able to see and experience the latest tech innovations. Key industry audiences are also showing strong commitment: 195 of the Fortune Global 500, 77 of the Interbrand 100, 66 of the top retailers, leading US and global media and attendees from 159 countries are already registered and joining us in Las Vegas.
While we were expecting CES 2022 to be the first major in-person tech conference since the Covid-19 pandemic, disaster has struck the week-long Las Vegas-based consumer tech event, and the past few weeks have been seeing big tech companies pulling out of a physical showing.
Following in the shoes of Google, Amazon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Microsoft is the latest company to head for the door. The big M said it’d be avoiding an ‘in-person’ attendance at the show, which suggests it could still have a virtual conference, though that’s not the same for attendees or general tech fans. Intel said that “after consulting with health officials and in the spirit of Intel’s safety policy, our plans for CES will move to a digital-first, live experience, with minimal on-site staff.”
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced that CES will be closing one day early and the in-person event will take place in Las Vegas from January 5-7, 2022. The step was taken as an additional safety measure due to the current Covid 19 health protocols that have been put in place for CES.
CES insists the in-person show must go on. Here’s some of what you can expect to see this year.
* Samsung’s SolarCell Remote may be the first-ever to wirelessly charge via your internet router using RF signals.
* Icon.AI is showing it’s “Sound Mirror”. As the name suggests it’s both a full-sized bathroom mirror and smart speaker. Icon.AI calls it an acoustic mirror. SOUND MIRROR, which comes in four different finishes (gold, chrome, matt black, and matt white), follows the growing trend of technology looking like or integrating with home furnishing – Gallery OLEDs that look like paintings, TVs that hang from shelves, and chairs with built-in charging pads or speakers. The idea is that technology can blend into the background. The voice-activated smart mirror could also hang in your living room, den, or at a hotel or restaurant
* The future of display technologies is not simply giant TV’s. LG Display is announcing a handful of oddball and exciting flexible and semi-transparent display innovations, including a giant semi-circle chair home entertainment system and a new way to spin. Take a look at their offerings here: https://www.techradar.com/news/lg-is-bringing-flexible-oled-to-a-wild-rotating-easy-chair
These and many more tech innovations will be exhibited during CES 2022 so stand by for updates. The best of the best innovations usually come out during this annual show and even if a good number of larger tech companies have abandoned their in-person booths, there are still plenty smaller, innovative companies displaying their wares.
