You just texted a friend about a product you’re interested in or a place you’d like to visit. All of a sudden, you start getting ads about that product or destination. Magic?
Creepy?
No, it’s your browser, social media or other medium that’s shared your interests to a third party. They use the information to market to you while your interest is hot!
Social media, internet browsers, online stores, and internet-based software all have Privacy Settings with default properties that regulate what information can be shared and who it can be shared with.
You may have to search for their policies and how you can change your preferences and some make it hard to change them by requiring a mailed, written request or a phone call.
Others make it easy; go to settings > preferences and make your choices.
It’s your personal information so you should decide who gets it!
